Solving Monitoring Challenges in a Fast-Growing Cloud Infrastructure | @CloudExpo #Cloud

OneCloud Systems needed a reliable monitoring system that offered AWS integration, API accessibility and flexibility

Overview
OneCloud Systems provides managed services for the cloud including 24/7 monitoring, server and database setup, administration, and website migration. Launched by senior architects, developers and system administrators, OneCloud Systems enables customers to tap into the full value of the cloud by providing innovative technology architecture, proven infrastructure and reliable services. As an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Consulting Partner, the OneCloud team has deep expertise across the Amazon portfolio and knows how to leverage the AWS cloud to bring value to clients.

Challenge
With clients located around the world, OneCloud Systems needed a reliable monitoring system that offered AWS integration, API accessibility and flexibility. They wanted a solution that delivers comprehensive alerts about key health indicators, such as response time, server CPU, disk IO, memory, and more against a baseline trend. Additionally, with dynamically changing client needs, OneCloud sought a partner that offered elastic pricing so they would only pay for performance as needed.

Solution
OneCloud Systems evaluated numerous monitoring solutions including NewRelic and Nagios, ultimately selecting IDERA's Uptime Cloud Monitor due to its ability to provide unified monitoring across the company's fast-growing cloud infrastructure.

Uptime Cloud Monitor enables OneCloud Systems' system administrators to identify and react to cloud infrastructure issues, from user experience all the way to the database, and offers fully customizable dashboards, alerts, and management reports to meet the unique needs of clients. In addition to monitoring AWS resources, Uptime Cloud Monitor allows OneCloud Systems to use Chef to register and unregister systems as they come up and down and use scripts to install the agent, register the server, and group servers into the proper alert groups based on AWS tagging.

Benefits
OneCloud Systems is now monitoring hundreds of instances of servers and applications using Uptime Cloud Monitor. The solution's unified monitoring and proactive alerts allow the company to ensure clients are always getting the highest service levels. In addition, elastic pricing means they only pay for what they use and can easily scale and deploy as customer demands grow.

"Uptime Cloud Monitor is a great AWS monitoring tool. No other monitoring software was able to accomplish what the IDERA solution was able to do," said David Moore, operation manager at OneCloud Systems.
